How to Record a Program on a Dish DVR

Your Dish DVR unit is a handy tool for recording programming both on the spot and in the future. The Record button on the Dish DVR remote lets you record instantly. Use the DVR's Guide to schedule single recordings in the future and its Series Timer to schedule multiple recordings of the same show.

When you're watching a program, press the "Record" button on your Dish remote at any time to immediately begin recording the program you're watching. In some instances, if you start recording part of the way through a program, the DVR will record all of the program from the beginning.

To schedule a recording in the future, press the "Guide" button to display the Dish program guide, highlight the program you want to record, press "Select" and then choose "Record This" on the drop-down menu to schedule the recording. When the program airs, it is automatically recorded onto your DVR.

Recording a Series and Deleting Scheduled Recordings

To record multiple episodes of the same program, select one instance of the program using the guide and choose "Record Series Timer" on the drop-down menu. Select which episodes of the selected program you want to record. Options include "New and Reruns," "Only New" and "Once." Select "Create" to finish setting up your Dish DVR to record the series.
